Hey guys, quick question...any one have any ideas how to take the X off the from of a Planet X sl pro carbon? i tried just lifting it off, but i have no nails, and it seems quite attached with glue.

was then gonna try white spirit, but don't know if this will damage the laquer?

ANY IDEAS MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!!!!! :D

sharp wood chisel, strike with heavy hammer, guaranteed to work
another method the pros use is to use an electric belt sander, this method has the advantage of reducing the overall frame weight too and usually gives a more comfy ride due to better compliance in the frame.

If its not under the lacquer try a hair dryer.

depends if there is a laquer on top of the decals
are you restoring the frame and plan to relaquer the frame once the decal is removed?
if there is no laquer then use a hairdrier to soften the adhesive, start on one edge of the transfer and try to remove the decal as complete as possible (as opposed to breaking it into little bits), gently scrape all remaining bits of the decal with your finger nails or a wooden mixing stick (like a lolly stick), clean well with acetone or white spirit, allow to dry before relaquer the whole frame (if you wish)

Is the one on the front of the head tube? On my Nanolight the X is a bit of plastic - is yours the same or is it a decal?
    More problems but still living....

It's not a decal - it's a bit of plastic. It's probably glued on, and it will probably make a mess taking it off. There might even be 2 holes in the headtube to fit it, as I haven't seen any crooked ones.

The X on the head tube is simply stuck on, if you prise it off you should be able to remove the remnants of the sticky stuff with a bit of white spirits. I built my PX and didn't get around to sticking on the X, it is a piece of plastic with a peel off sticky pad on the back.

thanks for all suggestions :) i'll try some white spirit + hair drier, after growing my nails a tad

Also, anyone have an idea on how to replace some chipped off laquer? (i.e. small scratches and stone chips)

Assuming its a cf bike, Nail varnish. Then T Cut.

You could use a length of dental floss to slip behind it and 'saw' it off. Then you can tackle the double sided tape it was stuck on with with some hot water and some White spirit. That's what I've done with some unwanted logos on my car.
