Halfords customer service - What should I do?

Two weeks ago on only the second ride on my 2011 Boardman Road Team I developed a problem with a BB bearing.

The bike was immediately returned to the original Halfords store. They have had the bike for two weeks but have yet to provide me with a return date. I've phoned four times, the manager has never been available to talk to me. And I keep being told the same thing; the part (bearings) hasn't arrived at the store. But they do have the tools to action the repair.

Nobody will commit to when/if the part has been ordered and when it should arrive. I have asked for a replacement bike but was told they don't have one in stock.

I'm not looking to pander to the Halfords bashers as I'm very happy with my 2010 Boardman Mountain Bike Pro and was initially impressed with my 2011 Boardman Road Team.

If I'd have know they couldn't have sorted it with two weeks I'd have ordered the replacement BB myself and attempted the repair.

What would you do next?

    I agree.

    08450 579 000 ask for Andy Weston.

He is the Boardman person at Customer Services and is very helpful.

  • BB30 parts and tools seem to be very thin on the ground at the moment. You're certainly not the only person needing new bearings on an almost new unit fitted to a Boardman bike, something seems amiss either with the bearings or the fitting at the factory.

 Jeez, has it happened to you too?
  • Not me personally but I know of a few cases up in Leeds. Halfords had the bearings but didn't have the tool (like rocking horse $hit till July/Aug from Park) although it can be done with the Shimano tool.
