Hi all,

Does anyone have any reommendations for a cheap 1" threadless headset, or for the M:Part range of headsets?

Cheers,
Chris

M part is the shimano part brand.

to me a headset is a headset.

Might be worth checking the inside diameter of the headtube, I bought M-part headset which is J.I.S. fitting of 30mm rather than the 30.2mm diameter used by Campagnolo.

Don't know what difference it would make but I opted for the Campagnolo replacement part as that was a direct replacement for the original part.

Now have a 1" M-part headset sat doing nothing, let me know if you are interested in it.

    Hmm.. got me thinking Ferritic.

Sheldon Brown has some info on JIS vs ISO for 1" threaded headsets, but not threadless. Is yours threaded?

    No, it's threadless.

I offered it up to the head tube and it seemed to fit ok but went in a lot easier than the campag came out. I don't know how tight a fit it's supposed to be but as any freedom of movement may have caused problems I opted for the Campagnolo record from highonbikes for about £50 delivered.

The M-part headset was only £15 and may have done the job.

Could you measure the ID of the crown race on the M:Part please?

Dangerousbryan has sold me a great 1" carbon fork, which is ISO on the crown race (26.4 or thereabouts), which appears to match the crown race on my current forks. However if the M:Part are JIS then I need to look elsewhere...

There were two crown races included in the set, one is a 26.4mm the other 27mm diameter.
