Shifting lag...(delay)

Hi,

Ive noticed recently that the shifting on my Tiagra levers are very slightly delayed:

DO I need new cables OR a new cassette chain etc ?????? - or both ?

Or should I just do a major clean up of the whole cables drive train ????

Dirty rear mech/fouled parallelogram?

Tight bends in the cable routing?

I'd do a clean-up first, probably because I'm from Yorkshire.
