Problem with creaking forks at the moment on a new Kutoa Kom. LBS checked it today and have not solved the problem yet. They have used Carbon Assembley Paste during the build and again today when the checked it. They are going to ring the dealer next week for advice so hopefully it will get resolved. In the meantime I have searched the internet but to no avail. Should they be assembled with ordinary grase instead ?

  • Have they actually identified the source of the creaking?

If they've applied grease, whichever type, to the correct areas then it should at least reduce the creak even if only temporarily. If the creak is undiminished then maybe they haven't located it.

I say this because I had a front end creak and thought it had t be the usual suspects (i.e. stem bolts or top bolt) but it turned out to be the wheel in the front dropouts creaking when I was honking on the bars when out the saddle.

I can't think of anywhere on the fork/frame interface where assembly paste would be needed.....

I watched them check it in the stand and even with the front wheel out, cables slackened and no pressure on the handlebars it still creaked when moved from side to side. After it was reassembled it was a bit quieter but still a problem. They are confident they will be able to sort it though.

probably the cable outers, nothing to do with the forks....
