Rear cassette - moving apart.
Last couple of days have noticed that when changing gear ( up or down) that I started to spin without any resistance.
Last time I noticed that the chain had slipped in between two cogs and that the cogs, after I had corrected the slip, seemed to slide on the hub.
Got home by placing the chain on manually and riding without changing gear. Discovered how spinning works as was always a grinder before then.
Going to LBS tomorrow but what can the problem be? I am a complete dip-stick re mechanicals and have very few tools.

If you're going to the LBS - no need really to ask here, is there? 8)
Probably either the freehub spines have stripped and the cassette is not 'biting' any more, or more likely the cassette lockring has come loose and the cassette has play in it - allowing the cogs to come apart.
LBS will sort you out.0 -
Yeah Daft question really but just wanted to know if major expense was imminent. As new wheels should really be just a straightforward job.0

Or you might be missing the correct spacer for the cassette/freehub combo.
Did you say these are new wheels?0 -
Yes, have just tightened every thing up, gone for a ride and everything seems OK. Fingers crossed.0
