Easton stem compatibility with Specialized headset?

I've just swapped out my original Spesh stem for a new Easton one. I guess I have two questions:

1) Is the Spesh shim for varying stem angle now redundant? I assume there's no point using it with the Easton stem?

2) There are no problems with compatibility between the two brands? I kind of assume not...

    The shim won’t fit.
If it’s a carbon steerer tube check that the new stem does not have a large hole in the front. It may cut into the carbon if there is not enough materiel.
I marked mine slightly with a Pro stem but luckily changed it for a carbon stem before it got serious.
