looking at buying a cube reaction gtc.

im 5'10 with 32" inside leg, prefer the bike to as a small as possible, with high seatpost.

so, do i need a 16" or 18" frame?

effective TT 16" - 570 / 18" - 588
Seat Tube 16" - 375 / 18" - 420
wheelbase 16" - 1051 / 18" - 1070

my current 17" orange evo4 has a effective TT of 565 and that feels perfect to be. any longer would be a stretch. must have short arms, :D. dunno what the seat tube is though.

from theose measurements (against my current orange evo4) i be going for a 16" but that seems really small.

i cant find any shops near by with anything less than a 20" in stock.

cheers

You need to sit on one before you buy, there is no other answer.

I understand what you mean HJ, BUT.....

I took advice from my C2WS guy over the phone and ordered a 15" rockhopper, due to my short arse legs. The stand over was great but the bike was tiny and boarderline dangerous. I "wasted" one persons time in a shop for 10-15 minutes sitting on my new Cube Stereo and bought it from Sherwood Pines (my LBS).

BUT.... my new bike is an 18" and feels more stable, safe and generally mine!

LBS are used to people window shopping, you never know you may be able to afford it from your LBS as I got over £300 off mine!

    just found this

    http://www.cube.eu/en/service/faq/faq-d ... rame-size/

    5'10 is 178cm

    170-175 cm 16-17"
    175-180 cm 17-18"

    and this http://www.hargrovescycles.co.uk/images ... sizing.pdf

    gotta love google :D

looks like 18" then for me.

i think i need to find one somewhere.

And on that note, I've got a Cube LTD Race, I'm 5'10" and I went for the 18" frame because I preferred the feel of it! In short, get yer arse to your LBS and sit on them to find out what's best for you. :D

    thanks for the offer mate.

i went to leisure lakes this weekend and they had an 18"

actually smaller than i thought it would be, so 18" is the one im going for.

just need to decide on TEAM or SL now.

    im back.

ive found a new 2010 gtc pro 16" going cheap online. i cant find anywhere with a 16" to test and although ive sat on an 18", cant help thinking i could save £400 here

what length seatpost of you got? and are you sat low, or just in a standard position?

    cheers

    edit: is this yours? http://www.cube.eu/en/fullsuspension/sh ... -125-team/

that has a seat tube of 426 which is huge compared to the 375 of the reaction gtc.

im not sure how cube can call a 16" frame with a 14.7" seat tube a 16" frame tbh???

and ive added some Shimano M540 SPD's and its actually got an XT front mech, rather than the spec'd SLX, which is a small bonus.

went down to winstanleys over the weekend (even after reading a load of bad reviews about them). tried it out for size and its fine. 400mm post is on full whack and the seat on max offset mind, but the length is spot on my liking. bought it there and then, no issue with the service, but to be fair he couldnt do a lot wrong.

plus at under a grand, i think its a cracking deal.

been out over the weekend and its fooking ace! :D

although the one issue if i was being picky, would the brakes arent fantastic, in fact id the back brake was setup badly, very spongy!
