Toe Clips

Keep finding that the bolts that hold the toe clips to the front of the pedal end up having the plastic run through ther heads and ultimately fail, usually ripping the bolts out in the process as well.

I've tried washers, and that just ripped the plastic when it does it.
Only other easy solution I can think of, and seems to work on my tourer is using pedal reflectors (because that creates one big plate)

Anyone else encountered this and found a solution?

Am I doing something wrong with my clips?
