So....
Whilst trying to decide on my new bike I now know I need two bikes.
A nice racey carbon job for blasting with the club etc and an all rounder for sticking mudguards on during winter and maybe a rack for the odd trip.
so I'm thinking ribble for the racer and condor fratello for the all rounder.
Just wonder how much I would lose by just having the condor though.
Was out with a group ride on Saturday and my mate on a carbon bike said how much faster I could be on a carbon bike judging by how fast I was on my ally allez
Another option is the sabbith silk road as I like the sound of the company and it's bikes and could be the fit all machine
Dilemma dilemma

A carbon bike isn't really any faster than an aluminium one ?
And club runs usually go at the speed that the slowest rider can keep up - so realistically you won't be able to ride noticeably faster without getting shouted at ?
If you want a new bike go for it but it won't revolutionise your cycling. And can't you use your current bike as a winter one with clip on guards ?0 -
Fair point, but you do sometimes have a few blasts even in a group ride.
As for the current bike".....I sold it on saturday0 -
I've been commuting on a 29lb 20 year old Dawes tourer. Last week I started commuting on my Carbon framed Ribble. Over an hour and a half, I save about 3-4 minutes on the carbon bike.
Obviously, the difference between a carbon road bike and a modern alloy road bike will be much less.
So, plus one to what Cougie said!Faster than a tent.......0 -
I sold my winter (alu) bike this year and now only have my Planet X (see sig pic).
I intend to now use this through the winter.
I think that people tend to change their road bikes quite often and summer use only really limits the miles you can get in on the bike.
So, that's my plan. Use and abuse the bike instead of treating it like a precious antique..(it is two years old).Trying Is The First Step Towards Failure
