Hi all,
Fractured my left tibia (playing football) about 4 weeks ago now & apart from being very bored i am just curious if anyboby else has done something simular & can give me a guideline when they were back up to speed on the road bike. My left calf has lost quite a bit of deffiniton compared to my right one, so i know a bit of physio will be require.
Thanks

I got 5 breaks in my wrist back in december, and now one of the bones have moved and set in the wrong place, causing very restricted movement in my arm, it looks like it will have to be broken again, like you I have lost all muscle shape in my left arm and have had physio too But having to have it re-broke., I am back to square one. All rather depressing. I think like most things it takes time. Hope you get well soon0

Broke my tib and fib in March 2009, (3 fractures) had an operation where they pinned it.
4 weeks later I was on the turbo in trainers.
6 weeks later was tentative short rides of 3-6 miles.
8 weeks later I went for the 10 mile target in style by entering a club 10 mile TT, I did it in just over 34 minutes.
After 12 weeks did another 10 mile TT and it was 26.12 minutes.
Still get pain and jip from it but last year won our club's handicap points Time Trial Champs.
I had physio and had a proper bike fit done by someone who knows what they are talking about, due to the break I had a 1cm leg length discrepancy that was sorted with shims.
Still have a 13" metal rod and several bolts in there...
One of the main things though was the sheer will to get back doing it.0 -
HI,
Have just got back on the bike after 11 weeks on the sideline with my tibia fracture.
Have got to take it easy & this is a part of my rehab (swimming also) Can not wait to get properly up to speed especially with the upgrades which i have put on my spesh whilst i have been imobile. Have been using my cannondale trial SL4 MTB which i brought the day before i broke my leg (couldnt of planned that any better). This is my winter/work/trail hack whilst i upgrade my spesh for the up & coming summer night rides in whcih i hope to be fit enough for.
With the serverity of the fracture, it has forced my to hang up my boots & concentrate on other sporting activities. Have also got a 15% displacement in my knee which may/may not return, im hoping the swimming/cycling & the gym physio session will get it back to normal
