Team Clothing.....

I keep finding myself pooring over the interent looking at getting some team clothing for the summer as i've had to ditch the car for other reasons. I seam to have the nagging doubt that wearing team kit is a tad posuer for my kind of road riding, and i can only find companys selling the shorts and jerseys as a pair from china on ebay, which fills me with dread tbh, bitten once and all that.

I've got basic black shorts and tights and and wanted to spruce my look up a little and figure the team kit is the way forward ... or is it?

thoughts?

Lots of websites with genuine team kit, some of last years is very cheap. Wiggle have Saxo Bank gear going for good prices. I don't have any team kit but do like the look of it. Considering getting HTC jersey being a Cav fanboy. Brothers got the long sleeve Leopard/Trek jersey and it looks proper smart.

Personally I would wear what you want and screw what everyone else thinks.

Wear what you like, chap. Personally, I'd steer clear of the World Champ type tops, but as for team clothing, buy what you like the look of, it's your money!

You'll be breaking Rule 17...but what the hell I've gone further and broken Rule 19

As has already been 'said' wear what you like and feel comfortable in.

I love wearing team kits. Just make sure it's a team you actually like.

And the likes of Campagnolo have some decent looking kit.

Team kit makes you go faster anyway, so nothing wrong with that. :D

You could go retro. Some great tops on www.prendas.co.uk
While I have a Lampre top (Cunego fanboy), I've got PDM and Z Peugeot tops.
Going to be buying a Molteni top soon.

Or you could join your local club and get that team jersey :)

Just wear what you want, i really like the look of the newe htc and leopard trek jersey im thinking i might get one for myself!!!!
  • I treated myself to a Rock Racing kit because I liked one particular design.

The fact that the team is about as respected as Millwall after a riot didnt factor into it really.. Its not like anyone is really going to give a crap what Im wearing!!

I bought the Flaminia & Indeland kits because 1) more of less same price as non-team tops and 2) they look good.

sod what anyone thinks man. they should only be able to see the back anyway!!
  • It's just like football/rugby clothing isn't it? No one where I ride would think I rode for a pro tem, not looking like I do anyway (bit lardy!!!) and similarly, no one would think I was a pro football/rugby player wearing a replica top.

Wear what you like the look of and feel the speed difference!!!

Prendas are very good and there are some good bargains to be had out there

re the chinese stuff, ive got a few no problems at all with it. its cheaper and perfectly good. imo std team kit is a rip off so im happy to get it cheaper.
just make sure the seller has a good feedback score and check what other buyers have to say.

Instead of team kits, why not go for quality comfortable lycra. Look for the brands instead of the team. For example morvello or parentini or santini who actually make lycra and sponer the teams you would have bought team kit from. Soem of them even look nicer... I prefer my parentini non team top to any of my Scott Team tops but i ride scott bikes so i wear them anyway...

+3 - if you like the team kit, wear it. Most of it looks pretty good.

IMO wearing points jerseys can be a bit silly though, if you must wear King of the Mountains then it doesn't look great if you're huffing uphill in the granny gear... and "being ironic" doesn't cut it :)

Not sure I'd wear it myself, but that seems really good value for a jersey and bib?

There's a LBS near me that does gear with their logo on it which I've been tempted to buy, but its not that cheap considering you're advertising their shop when you ride in it, unlike the Wiggle gear!

What's the quality of the Wiggle stuff like? I might be persuded!!

  • I own a gym and was interested in maybe buying 10 off of a gym team design, any suggestions as to where to go to get a reasonable price?
  • Have a look at the Shutt VR kit. The kit is British made, really nice and looks good.

wear team stuff without the related bike looks a bit daft IMOA.
Team kits also just free advertising for the sponsors .... not my bag but hey like everyone else says wear what you like and dont worry what everyone else says :D

points jerseys and world champ kit etc... will get "comments" out on club runs though
