Anyone know if a chain catcher can be fitted to a Team Carbon due to large flaring at the BB,tried the Dog Fang with a zip tie...No success
K-edge clamp on silly prices..So thinking of a Token and buying a cheap clamp..Any ides
Secondly do i really need one or am i reading too many reviews and scaring my self that the first time i drop a chain it's going to rip my carbon frame to bits...

Yup, the Token one is near identical to the K-Edge for a fraction of the price - or you could just get creative with a wire coat hanger?Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

i noticed the same problem without buying a fang. the main problem seems to be how to attach it. i thought about getting a non band on derailer with the seperate band on adaptor so you gain the fixing bolt necessary for a k edge/token type job. quite an expense though.0

That's how my Ribble is set up. Thought it a bit odd but I don't think a dog fang would fit it so I'm pretty glad it is how it is. I have a Token catcher on its way to me.
A tricky problem!Faster than a tent.......0 -
I don't have any chain catcher. I have lost the chain a couple of times and it has never caused any damage.
I only ever lose the chain if I try to chain front and rear gears at the same time. Otherwise, it never comes off.Boardman Elite SLR 9.2S

I have a K-Edge on my Cervelo S2, but, on a recent trip to Pau, I found a Spanish make in one of the LBS there, Xabigo was the name. Still €20, but looks good on the P3.
I've never derailled a chain on the inside, but I'd hate to see what my white BB would look like after the chain chewed on it...Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
I have a Token one on my cross bike - chain drops are a lot more common if you downshift as you hit a bump - you only need one rev of the pedals to carve a big chunk out of a BB shell.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Do you need a chain watcher? Depends on the type of cycling and how good you are at setting your bike up. If you do not race and do not ride your bike in anger, and can set your drive train up so that it is spot-on, your chain is rarely going to unship.
Feel the need to fit a chain watcher and you might want to buy a chainstay protector as well.0 -
I have a Rotor one on my carbon bike. Handy. All drivetrains drop a chain every now and again. Ask Andy SchleckFacts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0

Just bougt a K-Edge for my Cento - for a Majorca trip.
Peace of mind, as there are some big hills and long rides. I did once drop the chain and have two lumps out the BB paint. Travelling with a bike can knock the indexing etc....
For 10g it will do me fine thanks. If I never need to make use of it, even better.0 -
Could i get away with buying something like this, attaching it below the front derailleur
http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/bbb-shiftfix-front-item112000.html
Then attaching the Token chain catcher...
Will it make the Token chain catcher too low down?0 -
probably too low. thats a braze on clamp as i suggested but youd need a braze on derailer to go with it.0

Depends but not that sort of clamp - presumably the catchers work with standard and compact chainsets - so if the OP is on a compact, it might work (ie if the amount that the braze on clamp is lower than normal is about the difference between the radius of a compact inner ring and a standard inner).Faster than a tent.......0 -
K-edge chain catcher for sale. Mounted, not ridden. The light/electric blue colour. Doesn't match the bike!

I think (happy to be corrected) that you need the derailleur itself to bolt into that. Might be wrong but on my bike it looks like it wouldn't work without.Faster than a tent.......0 -
Just thought i could create the same effect as link below using the clamp I posted about and attaching the Token catcher using a bolt and nut, understand about maybe too low..Just wondered if anyone had a go..It would work out about £20 cheaper..

I'd buy the one advertised above by Ciclicasati... A steal at that price!Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
After a bit of measuring don't think the Token and clamp combo was going to work or even the K-edge clamp on,due to the front mech sits right up to the seatpost..
So not to be wasteful i cut down my Dog Fang mounted/glued it onto a old Cateye bracket and clamped further down seat post...Seems very secure and within measurements to hopefully do the job...Time will tell..

hi
i cant seem to find any of the token chain catchers in stock on line but from what it seems above it may not fit my boardman team carbon (standard sram rival mech) without some sort of modification.
is there a chain catcher which will fit "out the box"? Will the k-edge one fit? how easy are these to fit?
many thanks0 -
I have to say that when I bought my 2010 Team Carbon I had problems with the chain dropping which as you'll probably agree, is very irritating.
Since swapping to Ultegra (touches wood), I have not dropped the chain once.0
