Campag Chorus 11 Front brake lever

My right front brake gear lever is just dangling, I think the spring is broken. I have a rubber band around the gear lever & the brake lever and that seems to of fixed the problem temporarily, before I couldn't change down. Anyway...

I took it to my local bike shop and they said I would need to pay £230 for a new chorus pair. Or I could get a campag warranty which could take 3-6 weeks.

Does anyone know if its possible to replace the spring? Do you require a special campag tool, more importantly does anyone think I need a new new £230 set of brake levers.

They are fully serviceable and the spring will be a few pence.
There are lots of how to guides and videos online
I think these guy do repairs and sell the parts

I do some google searches, haven't investigated too much yet. That's good know, some bike shops just want your money!

do chorus 11 have return springs? (out of interest) ........haven't opened the hood up.

Probably not the spring, but the spring housing that's bust - send it to Mercian and they should be able to fix it. You can DIY but you'd have to get the right parts first. The problem with LBS is that they only deal with Shimano, in which case you would have to junk the lever.

Try emailing the distributor i-ride / Jim walker They may be able to advise on what may have gone wrong and will tell you your local dealer (or go straight to them with the problem) seems as though they do alot of spares for levers so you may be in luck. If not, I picked up some 11spd Chorus shifters for £100 on ebay a few months back. Better than £240 new 8) they do the same job too.
