Tubeless and airless
I decided to try tubeless as my new training tyres. Went for Hutchinson Atoms on 2-way Shamals.
I blew them up to 100 psi from new, didn't ride and the next day they were completely flat.
Back home from my first ride on them after 4 hours and the psi had dropped from 120 to 80 on the rear and 100 to 80 on the front (they do run better at 80psi then clinchers but on a longer ride I will have to stop to put air in them).
A few hours later at home they were both flat. What's the secret to keeping air in without sealant?

What's the problem with sealant? A 'dry' airtight mechanical seal is difficult to achieve.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

No problem with it. I guess I just wasn't aware that I would have to put it in unless I punctured.
If I put sealant in then do I then not have to worry about puncturing at all?0 -
Sealants like Stans are very effective at minimising the effect of punctures - but anything bigger than 1mm is still a problem.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

inner tubes hold air well and can be patched effectively on the road.0

Are both tyres and wheels proper UST standard or are they tubeless ready? If not UST then some sort of sealant is usually required to keep everything airtight.0

2011 Campagnolo Shamal Ultra 2-Way and Hutchinson Atoms - I'm thinking these are UST standard or am I missing something?0

Just found this, haven't read it all but looks like it's not just me then

if you don't want to use sealant, or just don't have any, then seal the bead against the rim with some soapy water (50:50 mix of warm water and washing up liquid).
Apply that all round the bead prior to inflation (toothbrush works fine), then inflate, and you should be fine. Never had any leaking with my setup, even on non-UST rims.
ps If it's a training wheelset then Fusions are better than Atoms. More grip and last longer. Atoms are lighter and less robust.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0
