Hi,

I've stumbled across one of these, and quite like the look of it. I don't seem to be able to find any decent reviews on the bike?!

Personal or published reviews are welcome. (looking at the 5.2 2010)

I have one of these, bought it late in 2009 so I paid full up money for it, would I do that again , er no, but thats nothing to do with the bike.

I havent seen. any reviews on the 2010 model, for me it was a long standing fulfilment to one day own a madone after years of following LA and then 18 months ago after making a return to cycling it had to be a madone.

This was my first carbon frame equiped with shim ultegra with DA wheels, it did'nt disapoint, awesome power transfer, great handling and very comfortable.

Today a new 2010 model will be less than 2K for ultegra, but you will need a decent set of wheels to get the top end ride out of it.

12 months on and its had some upgrades, I dont like the Bontrager kit and also wanted to personalise it, this is why I started with not doing it again as i would now get a quality frame built up with the equipment to match at a better price.

If you go ahead you wont be disapointed, there are reviews on the 2009 madone 5.2 which are all excellent.

    Good luck

Hey Airbusboy - I ride a 2010 Madone 5.2. It's my first carbon bike and first road bike for a long time - I'd been riding my other bikes for commutung and doing day rides on my tourer before deciding to treat myself to a decent road bike for my 50th. So I come to it with no experience of other carbon.

It's a dream for me - acknowledging that the engine is getting a bit past it, I find it light, responsive, and supremely comfortable. It climbs well and handles well on downhills (although I'm a scaredy cat after coming some years ago and don't do it fast) I don't race, but do club rides and outing solo and with friends. I haven't ridden more than 110k on it but the bontrager saddle is great for me. I'm set up with a compact and haven't found anything I can't get up yet.

I've read reviews that say it's got a slightly twitchy front end, but I don't find that.

    FWIW, I'm 6ft 5 and ride a 64cm frame.

If I had any cash, I might look at upgrading the wheels, but I've no complaints.

You will find that the Trek Madone 5 series 2010 is a 2009 Trek Madone 6 series, light & very fast....
Trek upgraded the 2010 6 series with new geometry, internal cabling, and fatter tubing.
This is why you won't find much reviews on the 2010 5 series because its a 2009 6 series.
    Hope that helps.

The Madone 5 series 2010 model has the OCLV Black Carbon frame which is the same as used on the 2009 model whereas the Madone 6 series 2010 models are based on the OCLV Red carbon frame.

Was it just the Trek that he was 'on' at the time?
