New Road Bike Giant vs Wilier

Hi,
I'm getting a new bike, and it's between a 2010 Giant TCR Advanced 3 and a new Wilier Izoard Petacchi, pictures below.
The Giant comes with 105, askium race wheels. The wilier comes with Veloce and Miche race wheels.
I cannot use the bike2work on the Giant, whereas I can with the Wilier. Without the bike2work, the Wilier is 500 euro more expensive. With the bike 2 work, the Wilier is around 200 more.
Took the Wilier and a TCR composite for a test ride earlier. Both were lovely. However, there was something smoother about the giant, super comfortable. If felt a lot lighter when riding, even though it's not actually that much lighter. That was the composite though, I imagine the advanced would be even better?!
The main thing going for the Wilier is that it is so nice looking, it would turn heads, and you feel great riding it for that reason.
This is my 1st road bike. I plan on doing the odd triathlon, nothing competitive though.
I would appreciate any opinions! Thanks

Head says Giant
Heart says Wilier
Absolutely no use to you but that Wilier looks awesome!0 -
Don't buy what you think you should have, buy what you really want. Nothing worse than spending loads of money then regretting it!"That's it! You people have stood in my way long enough. I'm going to clown college! " - Homer0

@nevereverland ... what size of giant are you looking at. i have a tcr advanced frameset for sale. white, black, silver. 20100

I have the Giant Advanced and can highly recommend it although the Wiliers do look the bees knees. Just wondered why you can't use the Cycle to Work scheme with the Giant? Is it because the Giant is being discounted because it's a 2010 model? If so, wouldn't a 2011 model through the scheme work out even cheaper?0

Only one of those bikes looks good....... (and it is black)
No idea how they ride.
Get the one that grabs you inside....0 -

The Giant is a better bike but the Willier is much better eye candy0

Hi Guys,
The reason that I can't use the cycle to work scheme on the Giant is that I would be buying it over the net from the UK. I would be buying the Wilier in Ireland which is where I am from. Have to use the cycle to work scheme in a shop over here0 -
My Giant is so good I bought one for the Mrs.. ( My winter bike  ). Handling is outstanding. Buy the bike that inspires you.Why tidy the house when you can clean your bike?0

Much as I love the Wilier, if you think the Giant feels the better bike then you should probably go for that.
Hmmm, it does look great though, Italian brand, Campag...0 -
Porsche versus ferrari type thing
Willer for me!0 -
For me, the Giant looks cooler in that white/light blue, and will almost certainly be better to ride. For me that would probably be the deciding factor - although only you will be able to decide for yourself0

Picture yourself struggling up a long climb.
The Wilier undoubtedly looks better, but half way up the climb, what will be more important to you - the one you believe you're getting the most out of, or the one people will think looks great as you get off and push?!!

Willier it is then....0 -
The Giant is so stiff all your power gets transduced into motion. I like to climb and it revels in the hills... up and down. If you live near hills and mountains it would be a fantastic buy. Put some lighter hoops on the TCR and it accelerates as quick as your legs can drive it.. be careful it can chew your legs off :shock:Why tidy the house when you can clean your bike?0

Wilier - no contest, its like Porsche vs Maseratti - one may be technically clever, but you'll always regret not buying the other
I love my Cento - if you offered my a Giant as a swap, I would think it was a bad jokehttp://veloviewer.com/SigImage.php?a=3370a&r=3&c=5&u=M&g=p&f=abcdefghij&z=a.png

If you're buying the Willier from a shop/Giant over the net then Willier wins hands down."That's it! You people have stood in my way long enough. I'm going to clown college! " - Homer0

As others have said the Willier grabs the heart and the Giant the head!
The campagnolo group will likely last a little better, this has been my experience anyway!
The Willier being italian will probably be a little shorter than the giant so will handle slightly differently. My experience of Pinarellos and colnagos is that they tend to be a little more inspiring in a fast descent. On the other hand the giant will be easier to settle into a fast, smooth ride if you are on straight roads as it is longer. The main benefit of the TCR as far as Im concerned is that its both fast and comfortable. Rabobank ride it both on the Paris Roubaix and the tour etc where many other teams have two different frames.
In all honesty the Giant will probably be stiffer and a better frame to ride. In an ideal world you would get the Giant with a chorus group for complete durability and quality but that would be a lot more expensive. This is what I will be training on in a month or so as I do 18-1900 miles a month so need something that is durable, comfortable and fast. Sorry to extol the benefits of both bikes!0
