It'lll come with flat pedals with a traditional style cage. None of which will work with your DHB road shoes so if you want to use those you'll need to buy some different pedals to use.0

Shimano M424 SPD Pedals

would these pedals be what im looking for so???
or even these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-pd-m520-pedals/0 -
Those are MTB / Touring pedals, and don't really go with the shoes you've bought. The cleats do look like they'd fit however. Why go for light road shoes then heavy-ass pedals.
For a casual user i'd return the road shoes and purchase the MTB version. MTB shoes have a recessed cleat, which mean you can walk easily in them as well as ride in them. Road shoes have the cleats sticking out so you can't really walk in them for more than getting to the garage to get your bike out.
The DHB MTB shoes with the m520's would be a good option.0 -
I have these pedals and they work just fine http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-pd-r540 ... rt-pedals/

No i dont have DHB shoes but if they are for SPDs then the Shimano 540 pedals will be fine.
On checking the Wiggle site Dhb shoes accept the following shoeplates,Look, Time Impact, SPD, SPD-R, SPD-SL and Speedplay. So any pedals you may like with one of the above systems will be fine with you shoes. I take it that the shoes you have were delivered without plates.

ya no plates, as the cleats come with whatever pedals you buy apparently, thanks for the information

There is nothing wrong with the pedals - There is nothing wrong with the shoes, they are just not well matched.
The small SPD cleat will make those shoes even more unstable to walk in, say over a Look road cleat which is much bigger.0 -
this is what iv purchased http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-pd-r540 ... rt-pedals/

You should have no problem with those, i have the same cleats and pedals, funnily enough one of my bikes is a Giant Defy4. Good luck with your choice and many happy cycling miles.

1st thing I did when I got my 1st road bike last year was to get the Shimano SPD's and it has made a massive difference.0
