Im looking to get a decent workstand but being a student i cant just go and but what i please so im looking for good value for money, what stand would you reccomend?

also i am looking to get elbow/ arm guards & knee/shin guards , im 5'9" , 34" inside leg, average leg & arm build, wrists are a bit skinny though lol, im adding this as ive seen people compaining on reviews about size's.
again im looking for good value for money, i will be using them on some knarly trails (in places) and want them so i have the confidence of hitting them harder and having fun, im always trying to push things a little further the more i build confidence but im still what you would call an amature.

help much appreciated guys, i'll keep looking for now

cheers
scott

I've got that workstand (paid more for it than that!), it's a cracking bit of kit. The quality is much better than I imagined it would be, in fact I can't see how they make any money at that price.

+ another one for the ribble stand - I got one for xmas and its really good. Adjustable, sturdy and easy to set up.

Regarding armour, I have 661 race pads in adult (elbow) and medium (leg) - think I am 5"5 but not sure... Not had a problem with them - they do get warm but I guess that's the same for all armour

  • I picked up the Revolution stand from Edinburgh Bike Co in their sale for £40 - just finished building a new bike and it was great - if you can get one for that kind of price I would really recommend it...

& another vote here for the ribble stand, got one a couple of weeks ago and it is really good, especially for £53 delivered.

As for pads, i've got 661 veggie knee pads and hate them,, always moving around and make you sweat like a banshee. As for size, tried the medium, they almost cut my circulation they were so tight. The largeswere a lot bigger, comfy but move around.

Also got some 661 mxe knee pads and love them, they dont move at all, and hardly cause you to sweat.

And for elbows, got some 661 chicken wings and they are good.

This, very happy with mine, holds up my rather portly Coiler nicely..

The one in the pic above is the same as the ribble one. It is actually a Raleigh workstand.
