10 Speed shifters on 9 speed set up

Struggling like hell to get some Campag 9 speed shifters for a build i'm doing, So wanted to ask, Can I use 10 speed shifters and what would need to be altered to run them on a 9 speed set up?

Reading online varies from changing ratchets - (they're £20 a pop so makes it unviable really) to Altering the stops - but again, I dont know how easy/difficult that actually is?

    9 speed stuff is not made any more but it's plentiful on ebay - something like these for example (no connection to the seller).

    If you're using a Campag rear mech, a Shimano 9s hub/cassette, then Campag 10s ergo
    levers will work perfectly. That's the combo I'm using on my three bikes.
