The CAAD8 is one of the best frames in the business. Few companies make better aluminium frames than Cannondale. One thing you'll notice is the attention to detail, all the welds are ground smooth before painting - it looks superb. It's stiff but it's designed to absorb road vibrations so it's also comfortable. 105 is good groupset.

I've recently seen 2010 CAAD8s with 105 at seriously low prices, they're superb value for money. I think they originally cost just over 1000 pounds.

New Cannondale CAAD10s have a waiting list in some places, the CAAD9 was the same. Very popular bikes.

I have just bought a CAAD8 105 as I couldn't wait for the CAAD10 to come into stock (I'm not very patient.) I have got to say it's great to ride. Very light and handles fantastically. The new 105 groupset is very smooth. I am very pleased with it and looking forward to doing many miles. :)

Don't worry about all this "my frame is 20% stiffer than yours" stuff. Unless you're a professional cyclist or very powerful you're unlikely to notice much difference in the real world.

Yes... and that's why they are a pig on anything less than newly laid tarmac (ditto Synapse).

I had a CAAD8 (in bare polished alloy... gorgeous) - should never have sold it (and I still feel that as the owner of a Colnago). I read once that it was the smoothest alloy frame ever made. I had a used CAAD9 to make up for my CAAD8 mistake and, minus the fillings in my teeth, sold it after one ride.

I'm ever looking on eBay for another CAAD8 - I think it'll prove to be a modern classic.

It's a GREAT choice for a first road bike.

This is like the one I was waxing lyrical about above:

I think he's asking waaaaaaaay too much and he's conveniently hidden the designation for the Fulcrum wheels, leading me to believe they are 7's.
