Need to fit a new gear cable set and I thought its time to try some sealed cables. Read the review of sealed cables on bikeradar and the transfil mudlovers looked like just the thing for me.
Went to buy a set on CRC and they also have a set called Flying Snake that seem to be similar but £4 more. Is there any difference in the 2 sets and what do you get for the extra dosh.

Just get a full length of XT outer and some cable guides. My cables have been maintenance free for the best part of 12 months, and cheaper than the sleeve in a sleeve offerings0

Good idea never thought of that but by the time I have bought at least 2m of outer 2 x inners at least 4 x cable guides and a packet of caps I bet I wouldnt have much change out of £15 or so.
Think I will go with the mudlovers for £18 just wanted to check if there was any difference between the 2 sets.
Dont know why bike makers still use stupid split cable runs. My On-One Scandal has full outers and has had the same front cable since I built it up 5 years ago and only had the rear replaced last year because the plastic outer had rubbed through in a crash and exposed the reinforcing wires. The Commencal is 2 years old and is ready for its 3rd rear cable.Fig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0 -
They use split runs and they assist shifting (not so much of an issue with good outers), and save weight.
Mud isn't much of an issue unless you live on a little island of the coast of france. Why would I care about 150g of bike weight, I just ate 400g of cookies while reading this?0 -
I have used both, Flying Snakes are just prettier. I used mudlovers on my commuter which in winter was needing weekly cleaning and lubing to get the rear mech working as the last section of outer wouod fill with water and muck. With the mudlovers they were entirely maintenance free for over 2 years. Eventually the inner sheath wore, but I did a lot of miles.0

CRC are out of the Mudlovers at the mo so I went for the Flying Snakes after all.
alfablue I have seen several reviews that say you need to lightly grease the cable inner before fitting to get a real slick shift did you do that.Fig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0
