a lot is down to personal preference

tyre prices vary by ridiculous amounts, shop carefully! at the moment, ribble is excellent value on many tyres

you can get a pair of gp4000s for c. 54 including shipping, i run these all year round for commute/training

you can get attack/force for a similar price from ribble, i find this combination slightly better than the gp4000s, put them on my race bike a few weeks ago

haven't tried the michelin pro race 3 myself, but heard good things about it, certainly an option

my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny

    based on forum sampling

    Mich PR3
    Conti GP4000S
    Schwable Ultremo
Vittoria Open Corsa EVO CX II (320 TPI)

are all good. I've used 1 and 3 and liked them.

Haave a look at the Panaracer Race Type L's - at last they've come up with a sub-200g tyre with a puncture belt unlike their paper thin Closer tyres of old.

    Veloflex Corsa @ £30.

    20 or 22m width clincher tyre,fast ,light weight(180g) with 320tpi casing.

Veloflex only make quality tyres,no cheap alternatives in their range.

I've been really pleased with my Pro Race 3's for some time now. Grippy, comfortable, durable, smooth rolling - no complaints at all.
I'm left handed, if that matters.

Ultremo R.1's cos I can corner really fast on them, better than PR3 for cornering IMHO.

Have got some new Ultremo ZX's to try for this season.

What this thread will be is people recommending the last tyre they bought. As for me, I've tried many of the leading ones and I'll be buggered if there's a difference. Buy the ones that go best with your bike.

you may be right, but, I have been through 3 different makes and 6 different models and my fav are the 4000s a really fantastic tyre, tyres are one of those things that can transform a bike for what is little money.

How do you measure this difference, I would be interested to know!

Seat of the pants, no doubt.

I have used Ultremo R1, Diamante Pro and Veloflex Corsa on the same wheels, on the same tt bike, on the same course.

Went faster every time on the Veloflex.

That is how I arrived at my recommendation.
