Freehubs/bearings replacement
Hi All
How easy to replace a freehub and bearings on a rear wheel? Got an anoying crack/clunk at times under heavy power especially on corners. The hub has no markings but comes from a Specialized Secteur Comp 2010 and has Mavic CX22 rims.
Can I purchase almost any freehub to fit or are they designed per hub?
Thanks

it's straightforward to change the freehub, needs to be the correct one of course (see below)
tools needed, a cassette lockring adapter and big spanner/wrench to fit, chain whip, and typically a big hex key to undo the freehub
these pages show how to remove cassette and then freehub...

from the pictures you should be able to identify what type, probably it'll be a generic shimano compatible one
it's likely that the wheels have cup and cone bearings, to service or change c&c wheel bearings you'll need some cone spanners to fit, shows you how here...

...also you'll need some grease
if the cups/cones are worn they can be replaced, but not on all hubs, and if you can't identify the hubs then getting spares would be tricky
if the ball bearings are damaged but the cups/cones are ok, you can buy replacements easly enough but you'll need to measure the size
tbh unless there's obvious wear i'd just clean and grease the bearings and assemble/adjustmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0
