getting a new set for training and just wondering what the actual differences are between the two?

are the rs20s worth the extra £25?

can anyone recommend any alternatives in a similar price range?

:)

  • Same rims.
    Same spoke count.
Same hubs although the outside of the 20s has a better polished finish.

I'd get a pair side by side at a shop and look at the spokes - the 20s defo have aero spokes. I really rate cheap Shimano wheels, they're cheap, durable, and the rims are wide, not quite Hed C2 wide but they're a lot wider than DT or Mavic which is a start and therefore useful for the rough commuting work most people throw at them.

I had a pair of bottom rung R500s I put 10k into and the bearings wore in beautifully!

The 10's have aero spokes too. Well mine do anyway. Have a look at the exploded parts diagrams on Shimano tech docs, see which parts differ.
