Can I please have suggestions for the best (in your experience) of each of the following, with retailer if possible:

1. Full size pump with pressure gauge to keep in the garage.

2. CO2 inflater and replacement cartridges.

3. Saddle bag.

4. Tool kit and tyre levers to go in said bag.

5. Inner tubes.

6. Bib tights suitable for the weather at this time of year.

Thanks! :D

    Can't help with everything but:

    1) I've got a Joe Blow track pump with gauge which is great.

    3) I use one of the Specialized bags. Depends on what size you need.
Mine is great in all weather.

    4) I carry a Park tool with different sizes of allen keys and Park tyres levers. Also got a VAR tyre lever.

    5) Depends if you want latex or butyl...bothered about weight. To be honest, I use what I can get. No particular favourite brand but haven't had many problems with Vittoria or Specialized ones.

    6) I've had the same pair of Santini bib tights for a while. Do me all year round but they aren't as thick as a Roubaix pair or they don't have any windblock type material which you may want.

Searching on here with the subjects will no doubt give you a lot of different preferences.
As for retailers...if your LBS can't help you then the usual Ribble/Parker/Wiggle/CRC et al :)

If you can still get them Soma tyre levers. Steel core, plastic outer. I bought them from Edinburgh Bike and I think Evans (online) as they weren't available from EBC the third time.
    Quality bit of kit.

The reviews aren't glowing on that site. Have you read them?
  • I have tried loads of tyre levers, some crap, some broke easily, some big names not necessarily that great.

My favourite and they are probably about 5 years old now are.....these:

    Highly recommended!

Joe Blow track pumps are excellent.....got mine as a Xmas present a few years ago and bomb-proof.

My view, don't bother with CO2 & cartridges......just get a good quality (compact) hand pump......this is mine (again had for a few years) and once you get a good technique, it can pump a road tyre up to not far off the track pump http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=2906
Summer - Dolan Tuono with Sram Force and Dura-Ace 7850 CL Carbon wheels
Winter - old faithful Ribble winter bike

Not until now. I would say that since 2007 I've purchased three pairs of these and used them to lever on tyres Park Tool plastics have shattered to. I have lost one of the six levers to the plastic end failing - and essentially becoming a razor blade - but I still think they're far more useful than the cheaper plastic alternatives.
Some of them were bought as recently as 2009 but they've all had a good work out as I change tyres fairly often and I'm not fussy which saddle bag I take them from.

Any other thoughts before I order?
