Focus Cayo 2

Hi
I'm a mountain biker who is interested in getting into this road lark and was initially looking at the boardman series of bikes, principlly the pro carbon. I have however been slightly put off by the stories of halfords bike skills, and my trip today hasn't inspired me with confidence. I have come across the focus range on wiggle and the Cayo 2 is right in my price bracket.

I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the bike and buying from wiggle in general. My budget is around £1500 if anyone has any other suggestions.

Yea Halfords are an absolute waste of time, the cboardman bikes are pretty decent, but dramatically let down by those muppets.
Wiggle is absolutely brilliant, not always the cheapest but their service is second to none, Cayo bikes are a really good solid entry level carbon bike with a great groupset, you can't really go wrong with this purchase.0 -
The Boardman bikes offer good VFM but you'll need a bit of mechanical know how to set it up right, saying that you'd probably have ti do this wherever you buy from unless you go to a good LBS.
I bought a bike from Wiggle a year or so ago the service was top notch. All gears etc set up correctly and came with a free multitool and instructions on how to set the bars. Wiggle also offer VFM but their Focus bikes all get reduced in September.
Another consideration might be Ribble. Check out their special edition bikes and choose your spec. Frames are from quality manufacturers and always get good write ups. Service gets some dodgy reports but all in all I think they do a good job. A friend recently brought the Grand Fondo with Campag kit and he's very pleased.
Others will recommend LBS to get the right bike and fit etc but expect to pay more or get a lower spec. Depends how confident you are with getting the right size frame, what frame you want and setting the bike up.
My next bike will prob be from Ribble0 -
When I started on road bikes (having had MTB for 10 years) I bought a Focus Variado which was great so when I upgraded to carbon I bought a Cayo and have absolutely no regrets. I've popped on RS80 wheels, Toupe saddle and carbon bars and it's feeling great. I've been very pleased with Wiggle too (provided what you buy is in stock)ROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0

Rumour has it that Focus hasn't agreed to supply or sell through wiggle this year yet, but definitely a top bike to consider. If your not hung up on carbon have a look at the CAAD10.0

Judging by what I saw at my LBS last week, you're right to be cautious about Halfords. They had an evening road bike seminar (maintenance, kit, etc), one of my fellow attendees had a Boardman Team Carbon. During the tea break, after a talk about carbon parts and the importance of using a torque wrench etc, the guys found the Halfords employee who assembled the bike had put 12Nm of torque on the stem- four times the required amount. Already damaged, unsurprisingly....If you do buy a Boardman (and they are great bikes) make sure you get it boxed and assemble it yourself or at a decent shop!Dahon Speed Pro TT; Trek Portland

Hold your horses before pulling the trigger on the Cayo! ! Just checked the Wiggle website.
I would not be ordering the Cayo Ultegra with rumours of distribution issues and all the sizes out of stock. Look elsewhere for something in stock or at least with a stock due date0
