Hi there,
I'm still waiting for my new cube agree
After thinking it was a good idea using my local cube shop i'm now not so sure.
I was told originally it would be two weeks delivery i'm now told two weeks later it's going to be another two weeks
Is this regarded as a long wait or am i just being a bit of a pussy?
Should i wait or cancel the order and go further afield for interest free credit etc from another shop?
What would you do?

Well, I wouldn't buy a cube in the first place, but.... (edit: wink put in to show I'm teasing)

Ask them why the delay, if it's a good reason, accept the wait.

If not, ask for your money back. You may have to give them a letter and another few days to respond by, stating that if the bike is not delivered by a certain date then you will cancel the order and want refunding.

Do they show as in stock on Chain Reaction's website? Might be a delay in manufacturing over which your LBS has no control.

I can't say for sure that the shops not messing you around, but it is very common for suppliers to have various delays in getting goods in.
I have a very good lbs, but often have to wait quite a long time for stuff to get in. Four weeks is a pain, but I would just go and speak to them.
If they ain't built the bike, then they ain't built the bike, not a lot the shop can do about that!
Just go and speak to them.

I was looking to buy an agree race and spoke to a few shops and was told by 2 of them that the bikes come from Holland and there were none due for delivery until end of February for any UK dealers. This was just over a fornight ago so sounds like potentially the shop is being economical with the truth to stop you buying something else

I didn't want to wait so choose something different....

I'd probably hold fire and be patient. Its worth it for having your bike from the LBS rather than one thats miles away if you need it tweaked.
  • I had the same thing getting a mountain bike from Cube last year, only my wait was 2 months in total after it just didn't turn up on 2 seperate shipments. I thought it was either a one off or maybe just Leisure Lakes being useless (I had to use them as it was a cycle to work deal) but in the end I paid £200 less than I should have done and it was an awesome bike so more than worth the wait.

If I had nothing else to ride around on in the meantime I would have been quite annoyed, my advice is to stick with it but demand some form of compensation. I'd only go for something else if you're desperate for a bike because you really won't regret owning a Cube.

Yeh I would wait, my Mrs has an Orbea on order now and it's going to be 3 or so weeks from when she put the deposit down.
Enjoy it when it comes, Cube's are great bikes.

This wasn't meant to be snobbish, I know nothing about cube bikes. I put the initial comment (I wouldn't buy a cube...) as a bit of a joke in response to the OP asking for what others would do.

I wouldn't buy a spesh/colnago/orbea/other high end bike, because I'm really happy with my burls. It is a cheapish build (total ~£2000) Ti tourer. Again this is not meant to be snobbish, just pointing out that I don't have a high end road bike.

I'm still waiting for a frame I ordered in 1997
  • I had to wait 8 days for my Cube GTC pro, that came from Holland ,and at the time before Xmas I was lucky as there was only a few left. The wait will be worth it, fantastic bike.

Remember that being out of stock is just as frustrating for the shop as it is for you, they want to sell you a bike after all!

As pointed out with the weather I wouldn't be too bothered with the wait, as long as you've got something to ride just now.

But, I'd take the chance to moan a bit and see if this delay can't result in you getting some free goodies from the bike shop. Even if it's just a token gesture it shows that they're actually bothered and will offer you a good service in the future.

Thanks. They seem to be the best looking Ti bikes I've seen (in web pictures anyway).
