Excellight Rims

Hello,
I'm hoping someone can advise me on whether the Excellight rims I recently purchased are faulty or not.
As you can see from the photos there is a gap at the rim joint - as with mavic op's I was expecting the rim joint to be fully welded and machined. Is this normal from Ambrosio or is it a faulty rim?

They're fine. Rims only need to be sleeved together with a plug, because spoke tension will compress the joint tightly. Welding is over-egging it somewhat, but either way, this tiny gap will have no consequences for you.0

Folk have lived with pinned rim joints for 50 years, welding and machining is fairly recent. The tension in the spokes also puts compressive load on the joint.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Is it my eyes or is the rim wall a different height at the join?0
