Play in front hub

Just got some new mavic cosmic wheels today and noticed a bit of play in the front hub, is this normal?

    Try clamping the wheel in the front fork and see if the play goes away? Wheel bearing are typically a bit slack because the wheel QR clamp pressure tightens them up. Adjusting bearings on Mavic wheels is simple - instructions/tool is usually provided with the wheels.
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
