No I got a free happy meal when I bought the Remedy 8, madone 5.2 and my 2.1 and the wifes 6300 WSD in the same foul swoop.
  • If the op is looking for something nice and cheap, could do worse than try decathlon. Last time I looked they had £80 for a bright orange singlespeed, £100 for the same bike with gears. They're eminently rideable and pretty easy to look after. If I wanted a new rat bike for little effort or money, it's what i'd go for.

Rockrider 5.0. Yeah it did pretty well on the Gadget Show budget bike mash up. It's on the list as a possibility.

I did have an old Scott Purgatory that fitted the bill, but stupidly I sold it for a pittance. Hey ho.

My 93 Bear Valley set up for road use and commuting. It's getting on a bit, but the fully rigid frame suits it's current use.

My retro build... '89/90 Tufftrax... Bike was free, tyres, saddle, blocks, cable inners cost me around £30. I use it for jaunts in the park usually. It's been to Delamere and Rivington too.
