Hi everyone.
I've been offered a mavic headset - the 1" road one which doesn't require the proprietary tools, so from the 90s. Not completely sure of the model number - 315 perhaps?

Anyway, i know it's a very good headset, and it's standard threading. However there is no crown race: is there one I could get that would replace it, from a more common type of headset?

Thanks.

I think you'll find it's actually made by Stronglight. If it uses standard ball-bearings , then it should be no problem finding something that fits - might be a bit more tricky if it uses needle-roller bearings.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Ok thanks.
you sure it's made by stronglight?
i guess that would make sense as they both make (made) their products in france.

Takes standard bearings, so should be easy enough
    thanks again

MontyDog may well be right, in which case Spa Cycles in HArrogate might be worth contacting.

    why spa cycles?
the only spares they offer are bearings.

i suppose it will probably be difficult to obtain just a crown race!

Suggest you try over on Retrobike - there's lots of guys like me who have piles of old bits accumulated from various bikes over the years - sadly I don't have any Mavic / Stronglight headset spares
