mavic headset crown race
Hi everyone.
I've been offered a mavic headset - the 1" road one which doesn't require the proprietary tools, so from the 90s. Not completely sure of the model number - 315 perhaps?
Anyway, i know it's a very good headset, and it's standard threading. However there is no crown race: is there one I could get that would replace it, from a more common type of headset?
Thanks.

I think you'll find it's actually made by Stronglight. If it uses standard ball-bearings , then it should be no problem finding something that fits - might be a bit more tricky if it uses needle-roller bearings.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Ok thanks.
you sure it's made by stronglight?
i guess that would make sense as they both make (made) their products in france.
Takes standard bearings, so should be easy enough
thanks again0 -

MontyDog may well be right, in which case Spa Cycles in HArrogate might be worth contacting.0 -
why spa cycles?
the only spares they offer are bearings.
i suppose it will probably be difficult to obtain just a crown race!0 -
Suggest you try over on Retrobike - there's lots of guys like me who have piles of old bits accumulated from various bikes over the years - sadly I don't have any Mavic / Stronglight headset sparesMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
