Replacing Dura ace chainring

I need to replace the big chainring on a dura ace 7900. I didn't take it apart yet, but it seems like the fixing bolts attach into the rear of the big chainring. Does this mean I am forced to buy the dura ace replacement chainring or would a compatible BCD ring be possible - and yes, I know it won't look as nice
Many thanks!

You need a ring that is Dura Ace compatable.
Replacement DA arenot cheap.
Would suggest you look at these http://www.rotorbike.com/nueva/ingles/road_qrings_130bcd.htm
you will need to ask for OCP 3 sets. a 53/39 Aero set is only £175.00
You can just get a single but you loose the benefits.Racing is life - everything else is just waiting0 -
Not worth messing with, if you've got the DA you've gotta keep it original. You'll loose the shift quality you've been enjoying by choosing such a great chainset in the first place. The teeth are shaped specifically to work with 6700/7900 chains. If you really want to save then you can get a 6700 Ultegra chainset from Ribble for £150. Personally I'd just bite the bullet though. Am interested to know how many miles it's done though as would have thought it's too new for many to have worn out yet?0
