Sweat inside Tacx i-magic head unit - HELP!
Anybody else experienced a problem with sweat in TACX imagic model T1900 head unit (part T1904) or had success fixing it? New head unit (white with green circle) costs £200+ so want to avoid replacing it. It is only 15 months old!
Set out on extended training programme today (too wet and windy to get out and do hill repeats). The following happens:
I adjust slope using head unit and then PC display goes haywire. Software starts to continuously adjust gradient and stops recording heart rate, power, cadence and speed but timer just keeps ticking away.
I'm assuming sweat got into head unit. So start to dry it out in a warm place.
After a couple of hours reconnect it. Software still continuously adjusting gradient and now scrolling through menu buttons  but it only does this when connected to head unit. Also HRM light only flashes if I bend over wearing chest strap really close to head unit. Disconnect head unit and software displays OK - no gradient changing or button scrolling.
Googled tonight to see that sweat in TACX head unit is not unusual but few clues as how best to fix it.
As of now - head unit is in warm place immersed in rice in tupperware container - web advice suggests doing this for 3 days is good way (if you do not have silica gel) to dry out mobile phones and small electrical units.
But there is some suggestion that I may need to open casing to improve drying. Checked the fasteners and it looks like I need Torx type security screwdrivers - set now on order - can anyone confirm if they will undo the fasteners?

I have a Tacx Flow head unit that suffers the same symptoms - I bring it indoors and leave it on the radiator before use and it works fine. Seems to be a common fault with Tacx products having discussed this with friends.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
