Hi Guys,

I am doing some research and can't wait to get my first road bike. After a lot of reading I am now thinking of getting a SuperSix and I found an attractive offer from 2010 stock with the SS Rival. Otherwise, I am considering buying the new one 2011 SS 105.

I have a few queries regarding the above bikes:

1. Do both bikes have exactly the same frame?
2. How the Rival compares with the 105 in your opinion? Is the Rival group discontinued for 2011? I can't find this system in 2011 bikes.
3. Does the Sram system have the under-bar-tape cable routing (as in new 105)?

I will appreciate your opinions on the above bikes, as I can't test ride or view any of these bikes due to location.

Happy New Year.

  • I have both Rival on one bike and a 105/ultegra mix on my winter bike.

Rival wins hands down IMO, prefer the action, and its lighter. I do prefer the new Ultegra 6700 that Mrs Squill has on the felt over my Rival though.

And yes, Rival is under bar cable.

    Thanks.

Do you know how the Rival compares when it comes to durability / reliability?
  • I have not had a problem with either.

Any comments on the bike frame, etc?
The 2010 Rival is a small bit cheaper that this year 105. Is it a good deal?
