I need a new pair of shoes but don't have much cash. Originally thought I'd get some sporty MTB shoes, but then I saw that Spesh BG Elite Road shoes are SPD compatible.
Are they good budget shoes? Seems like a good deal at £60 currently.

Spesh BG are regarded as being v.good by many - If they fit ok they should be a great buy.Rich0

Thanks RichA. I tried on some other Spesh road shoes (BG Pro) in Cycle Surgery, so assume the sizing for the Elites will be the same.0

Had my BG's for years, remember when I got 'em. I used to call 'em " my secret weapons'!
Love 'em.Finished0 -
I've just started with a road bike / shoes and got the BG Elites. I paid about £72 though.
I've nothing to compare them with - but am very pleased so far. I had to go a size bigger than I expected, which is apparently not common on Spesh shoes, so make sure you get a chance to try them on.

If you don't mind me hijacking your thread, you can get them cheaper than £60

I have Spesh MTB shoes which fit me well. Will th road shoes be a simialr fit - can I afford to buy on line without fitting?
I'll struggle to get to a branch of the Bike Coop anytime soon.0 -
Those are the sport ones.
I got mine from EBC - we have a shop in Aberdeen so I was able to try them on.

These are the Elites.
I think Evans had them for £60 - but they didn't have my size in stock.
I've no idea about fitting, but I would assume they will maintain a consistency. My feet are usually a size 9 in shoes, but the 43s were very tight at the toes. I could have worn them for short periods of time, but not hours on end. They didn't have 44s but ordered them in for me to try before I bought them. They were fine, so I did buy them and so far haven't regretted it.

Can't get on the Edinburgh site at the mo. The £60 versions were from Evans, luckily I'm a 47.
Have ordered them now, look forward to giving them a whirl...0 -
