Hope someone can shed some light on this
I went to my LBS to buy a hope tapered headset to fit my Kona Dawg 2010 but the bottom cup was far too big! Anybody else had a similar problem?
Can anyone recomend a good zero stack tapered headset?
Cheers for your help

You get different sizes, are you sure it's the right one0

What do you mean by different sizes?
Frame is 1.5 to 1.125
I though all tapered headtubes were the same0 -
how do you mean too big?
your old one is a 49mm external bearings? and the new is a 55mm internal one?
get the correct fitting one."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Are you sure the bottom cup is zero stack? Got any pics?0 -
Got the frame bare so no point of reference
The bottom cup was pretty much the same size as the bottom of the head tube, ie it was never gonna fit!0 -
measure the frame then."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Some tapered head tubes have a zero stack upper and external lower, like this:

Cheers for the posts
I thought that all tapered headtubes were at the same standard, obviously not! That'd be far too easy!
Best keep shopping0 -
any of these new superstar tapered ones any use? http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/index.php?cPath=25
Ordered myself an external lower bearing one last week. They have a link to the standards on the description page.0
