Triple Front Mech with Compact Chainset.

Hi

I have just got a compact chainset to replace the triple that came on the bike and was wondering if I would need a new front mech? I know the shifters will be OK (Sora 3400) but not sure about the front mech as its a slightly different cage shape.

    It will work but perhaps not as smoothly as a double one. The geometry is slightly different so the effective cable pull is not quite the same. Also the different cage shape may have an affect. Best to try it and see. If you are happy with it great. If not a Sora mech is not dear.

    +1 triple mechs don't quite do it with a compact. Ebay has loads of cheap mechs.
