Columbus Intellaset Headset System -Integrated forks or not?
Have just bought one of the Guerciotti frames going for a song at Planet X. The frame is circa 2004 and the headset to be fitted is listed as "Columbus type, Intellaset". From what I can see from pics on the net this appears to be an external headset that fits flush to the headtube, rather than protrudes a la Chris King, am I right so far? The next and main question is does this system fit onto an integrated fork? Any help, gratefully recieved. I've found a fork that I'd like to put on the frame and it's non integrated

I am inclined to think that if the frame is intended to take a Columbus Intellaset, well then it will need a non-integrated fork.0

The Intellaset is designed for use with an Integrated type fork crown.
The headset cups are in effect extensions of the head tube, the same diameter, and thus the cups replicate the bearing pockets of an Integrated headset frame.
My Cinelli Experience has headset cups and is mated to Reynolds Ouzo Pro Integrated forks.
Poor picture (phone), but you can see the black cups against the white frame and integrated forks.

That's brilliant, all makes sense now.
Thanks very much guys0 -
Integrated forks are only different by way of aesthetics such that the flared fork crown matches the frame headtube - they are interchangeable in terms of fit and function provided they are the right steerer diameter / offset for the frame. Besides, finding a non-integrated 1.125" fork these days is getting trickier.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

I too just bought one of the Guerciotti G35's. I sent Planet X Bikes an email and they told me which one mine used. They have since updated their website with the appropriate headset for the frame. Mine took the FSA Intellaset Pro No14 (which they sell for around $20 on their site). Hope that helps.0
