Orbea Warranty question

Dear People
I bought a Orbea Onix in Jan 10, the warranty tells me I have 2 years cover for components.
My left shimano 105 shifter has died could I have that replaced under warranty?
Also, How does the warranty work im a newbie, do I have to take it back to the shop where I bought it (Epic Cycles) which is very far from me, or would a local bikeshop be able to fit a new one and deal with the warranty.
