Fox Float 32 RL steerer sizes

Hi

I recently bought a Fox Float 32 RL fork, but have realised that the steerer is the wrong size for my frame - it is a straight 1.5" steerer. I'm looking at Fox's website to see if they do the right size and something is confusing me:
they only list 1.125" and '1.5" tapered' steerers.

Is '1.5" tapered' 1.5" or standard tapered? (seems a daft question, but 'straight' 1.5" steerers have a very slight taper. I'm sure everyone knew that, just covering myself :) )

If they mean that it's a standard tapered steerer, how come I seem to own a fork that they don't make?? i.e. straight 1.5"

thanks for you help

Tom

    Fox have made 1.125" (1 1/8"), 1.5" and 1.5" tapered to 1.125" (1 1/8") steerer Float 32 RL forks

All forks have a slight taper around the crown race area

Tapered in the case of forks means 1.5" (lower steerer dimension) to 1 1/8" (upper steerer dimension)

The 1.5" steerer is an OEM component. Basically it was made for a company building up complete bikes and this is left over stock.

The odd size and OEM nature probably meant a bargain price.
  • ah I see, thanks :)
