Edinburgh Bicycle have SRAM Red shifters at £87.49 and rear mech at £47.49 in their sale.

Is that a good deal?

I'd bet anything it's a mistake as the prices are waaaaaaay too low (so yes it's a good deal). Looks like they dropped the "1" and "2" before the sale prices. Ordered them myself just in case they honor the prices!

very tempted to order but have no use what so ever for them, might order 5 then sell them on haha
  • Aye same. Don't need them, but if that price is right its to good to miss surely?

the only reason i can see for buying the mech is to try to fit it to my xc bike, however
    1. dont think it would work, and
    2. pretty sure i would brake it
  • But it surely had sell on value on the bay if unopened

    that was my first thought.
  • hmm I can't decide whether to pick up a set or not, if its still there before I go to work I might take the plunge...
  • I don't think this is a mistake, but I do think these deals are for very limited stock.

So maybe one or two people will get their order honoured - hopefully those who ordered first.

On this basis, my advice would be not to post a thread asking 'Is this a good deal?' until after you've ordered.

Imagine their surprise when they come in tomoro (or Wednesday) to see 100 new orders for Sram Red mechs and shifters!

Because the website makes explicit mention of the original price of both items and clearly indicates that it's a 75% reduction over the previous selling price. Also, I've picked up similar deals from them in the last two New Year's sales.

Wow but this is serious hardware though right? Isn't Red top range SRAM bits?
EDIT: How could a shop afford to discount something worth so much, so heavily?

Everything else listed is also 75% off, so maybe it's just a great deal! And yes - Sram Red is their best.

Great deal (lowest I've ever seen by far) if it works out.

Well given the prices of the Force and Rival shifters on their website (which are not a great reduction), I cannot believe that the quoted prices are correct for the RED items.

It's not stopped me putting in an order though just incase :lol:

I've stuck an order in. If it's a mistake, then no loss. If not, then massive gain.

Bleeding typical their website is timing out

    Edit: order placed

Actually I got quite carried away, I just need a frame and forks and I'll have a complete bike

Planet-X are doing the Nano frame & forks for £500 I think

Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.
  • I cant find them, if they still have them can anyone send me a link?

Some pretty good bargains in the sale - got my wife a cheap (£150) road bike -one of their own brant Revolution Continental Womans that's been a display bike and dates back to 2006. She wanted to give a road bike a go and I'm sure we'd get that back for it on Ebay if she doesn't like it.

Pretty busy in the shop in Edinburgh so don't expect the best bargains to last all that long. Didn't buy much in the shop for myself but did buy a set of Specialized Roval Fusee Star wheels online - reduced from £400 to £100. Got the confirmation email so here's hoping I do actually get them!

I paid for next day delivery last night, and have only got an "order received" email, and nothing yet to say my items have been dispatched for delivery tomorrow.

    Anyone else have any luck?
  • I was in the shop this morning after seeing this thread and being too late for the Red stock online.

In the shop they had the £87 price in their system so I don't believe it's a mistake and you should get them.

    fantastic!

hesitated on some 105 wheels and lost out sadly but if the red stuff comes through I shall be very happy for a long time as its the start of my ultimate bike build :D

Just got a call from Edinburgh Bicycle. I'm not getting mine, they are fulfilling orders in the order they received them and they ran out of stock before they got to mine.
