Hi anyone got these what do they feel like compared to ODI Ruffians i love Ruffians. Was thinking of getting Black with gold collars for the jump bike and White with red collars for the trail bike.

  • Cheap, lots of colours. Wear quickly
  • They might wear quickly but replacement grip cartridges only cost a fiver.

Not too grippy and wear very fast. Not their best component.

Only just got mine so can't comment on wear, but grip for me is great.

If you went through 3 pairs a year, they'd still be good value.

I was impressed with mine, couldn't see any difference from the lizard skins on Mrs Diy's bike.
  • ive had mine on since about june and they arent wearing too badly, and plenty grippy enough with the 661 comps and 661 rajis ive been using with them. definately cant complain and would happily buy them again

love mine too, and all the colours too! Dont care if they only last a few months, £5 more is cheap enough for me not to worry
  • Thanks guys think for the first time in a while i won't be running Ruffians. Just hope they get the gold and red lock ons in soon

I have them on all my bikes and one set are 7 months old and wearing very well. You could get 1 set plus 3 replacement cartridge for price of equal set.

  • Superstar's website says that their lock-on grips are made at the same factory as all the other lock-on style grips, except ODI. They're cheaper than most which is why they're better than most. CRC's Brand X lock-ons are just as good and cost about the same. Worth considering if Superstar don't have the colour you're after or if you don't like logos on your grips.

  • love mine. actually the comfyest grips i've used!

They do wear quite bad though, but spares and replacements are cheap so who cares!

They're not bad at all but not I think as good as the best ODIs and Lizard Skins like the Xtrainer, Rogue etc. But they're better than others. Grips are more a matter of personal taste than of good vs bad though, I love my Rogues but to a lot of people they're ridiculously fat and wear too fast.

the only thing i forgot to add, is i find the SSC grips a little narrow, but i have spades on the ends of my arms so it might not be such an issue for others. Its nothing serious tbh, just something to note if you have comically sized hands

I get about a year out of £15 ODI grips and about 4 months out of £5 Superstar grips. So no saving moneywise but it is nice to have fresh tarty grips at regular intervals. Plus they do a nice Lime Green which as a colour blind mong with zero fashion sense I love.
