Fox RP23 grinding noise

My previously super plush and silent 2010 RP23 (boost valve, pro pedal) recently developed a sucking, almost grinding noise. It is particularly apparent during the first quarter of travel and on return to full extension. A notchy feeling accompanies this noise and a loud squelching and is exasperated by adding more rebound. I returned it to Mojo under warranty who did a service and new seals and sent it back but it is still the same. At the moment my girlfriends RP2 on her bike feels super smooth, plush and silent yet my RP23 feels rubbish, anyone out there encountered this problem?

very normal and expected, it is the dampening working.

    a grinding noise is not.

remove shock and check bushes and bearings shock and frame.

Remove it from the bike and compress it in your hands, if it is still there then its the shock, or not, move all the linkages around, and feel for grindy bearings.

    Thanks.
Sorry i should have said that I have changed all the pivot axles and bushings on the frame and shock bushings. The grinding noise occurs with the shock on and off the bike. The other noises you say are normal are not the subtle, regular RP23 sounds but a much louder noise that started recently.

its normal. almost every bike ive rode with a fox float shock has a noise at the begining of stroke.

Every bike I've ridden doesn't, and normally grinding noises are bad...

I rode a demo orange 5 today and 2 other bikes with RP23s and there was no evidence whatsoever of a grinding feel/noise and it felt very smooth throughout the whole stroke. It also didn't emit the loud squelching noise and had the more normal air shock sound. So I guess I have to get it back to MOJO again as something is wrong in there.

it al depends on the valveing. squelchy noises happen as the damping oil goes through the valves.

depending on a number of factors it can be more or less noticeable. I would not be worried about it at all.

    Grinding yes. gurgling now.

    Have you spoken to Mojo?

    They really know their stuff.
TF might be more fashionable, but mojo are still amazing.
Why would I care about 150g of bike weight, I just ate 400g of cookies while reading this?

they all make a noise after a couple of months, its not loud at all and you cant feel it but you can hear it as you start to compress the shock.

my old yeti 575 was bad for it, it was quite loud on that as the carbon rear end amplified the noise
tried 3 floats on that and they all made the noise, some diffrent tones ect but they all did it, tried a RS monarch and it was silent.

its pretty bog standard of a used fox float once its been used for a while.

a damper service on the shock will stop it for a few weeks but it will return.

The shock on my 08 Kona Four has never been serviced, and used hard this last year and is silent.

It's had a lizard skin over it for it's entire life, and still looks pristine.
