Restoring that shiny finish

Dug out an old carbon seatpin I've got to put onto my winter bike but the top of the post is aluminium (I'm guessing) and over the course of time has started to just slightly corrode.

Any tips in getting the surface corrosion off and making the metal shine again?

    Autosol metal polish works great on aluminium.
