Hello friends,

im installing Veloce brakes. On the mounting bolt they have toothed washers which dont look very nice! They look as if designed to dig into the surfaces around them because their facings are not flat, but are rather jagged. Im just wondering what these are for, and if it is necessary to fit them.

cheers,

rich

I'd imagine they're so when you mount the brakes there's no chance they'll move, after all they're only held on with one bolt, and i've noticed that some lower quality brakes i've worked on have a tendency not to stay centred.

Yup, to keep the brakes centred. Fine for steel or alloy forks / crown but not for carbon.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • Thanks very much chaps!
