Rear mech

Looking for a reasonably priced rear mech & shifter for my 456SS DH/fun bike. Not too bothered if it's SRAM or Shimano. Needs to be pretty tough, 9 speed and reasonably priced.
Was thinking maybe Shimano Saint or SRAM X5/X7?

Saint isn't exactly cheap. I'd get SLX.0

If you've got shimano shifters, get shimano mech, and likewise for Sram.0

No shifter yet & I won't have a front derailleur so free to use anything.
SLX wouldn't be a bad idea, I have got SLX on my trance, would be good to be able to swap parts if needed.

Just as a general point, you can interchange between the two brands for front mech and shifter. Just not rear.0
