Rockhopper frame or One On

If I upgrade from my hardrock frame to something lighter which should I be aiming for ?
Going to the rockhopper would appear to be a good choice, getting a brand new 2010 frame would be about £170 and could I swap all the parts over ?
Wheels - DH Swiss 445D from an FSR XC pro
Bar, stem and seatpost - raceface
Brakes - shimano deore
Buying an SLX groupset from Merlin and would get a LBS to swap parts over. Put back all the original stuff on the hardrock and sell off to cover the cost of the frame and part of the new groupset.
The On One Inbred frame would be about the same price but would it be a better choice than a Rockhopper frame ?

The Inbred will not be lighter than a Hardrock - the Scandal would however.
Post 2009 Hardropck frames are pretty light anyway, the RH not that much lighter, about half a pound difference I believe.0 -
So realistically I would be better keeping the hardrock especially now it has all these "lighter" parts on board and save for a full susser to upgrade to ?0

mmmmm is going FS an upgrade? In cost yes. I'd try a few out first and see if you think it's still worth it. HT frame upgrade might be the answer??0

No big point in going from Hardrock to Rockhopper. If you really want to feel difference upgrade wheels instead. I had Rockhopper and Hardrock (wife's) obviously Rockhopper did ride better but then all it's components were better-higher quality anyway.
But then I upgraded to FS. Completely different riding now. But I do take Hardrock for dirty filthy rides, puts me back to basics. Riding HT is more pure and I think it's more hardcore and fun.
There is no basic general answer to that, as you have to factor in the styel of your riding* that could determine your next steed. What could have been (Video)
I'll choose not put too much stake into someone's opinion who is admittingly terrible though0 -
I do honestly think, given that a frame fits well, that the frame is not as important as the wheels and fork on a hardtail. Frames have got to a level where most a well made, lightish and ride well. Forks and wheels can vary vastly.0

is this a replacement frame for the brand new complete bike you've already upgraded less than 4 months after you bought it?0

Not much difference between Hardrock & Rockhopper, bit lighter & bit better ride but I wouldn't go for that upgrade. How about a Stumpjumper HT frame? That would be more of an upgrade ias long as you want to ride XC.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
