Weight Weenie Wheels

As per title, this is weight related decision.
I'm looking at Pro-Lite wheels:
Como - 2098g = £74.99
Merano - 1670g = £138
Bracciano - 1522g = £197 (ribble £186 - out of stock)
OK, so I don't want to get drawn into the whole 'let's get my bike as light as possible' arena.
So your probably thinking; "why don't you just get the cheaper como's if weight doesn't bother you?" - Fair point. I'm wondering if saving 400 / 500 grams will really make a difference, as opposed to me increasing my fitness and pocket the savings?!
Do you think there's a massive difference in the quality of the wheels, or durability? Are the Merano's twice as good as the Como's considering they are twice the price?
If not, surely it would be wiser for me to relieve myself of excess urine and fecal matter to lose the weight, plus ditch the ipod and phone before I ride?

Well I would notice 4-500g difference on the wheels. Whether it's worth it or not is up to you. I happily(ish) drag pretty heavy wheels round over winter so that I get a real boost in springtime when my light wheels come out again. I say use the cheap heavy Comos for now and save the spare for your good summer wheels.0

It depends on where the excess 500g is, if its in the rim i'd guarantee you'll notice it(esp after 100miles). Then it's down to what type of riding you do, short, medium distance, long n hilly? I'd always advise on using a light set of rims, quality hubs and decent tyres. Rotational weight is a different resistance to static weight, so don't toss the ipod over the hedge until your passing my house..0

Your choice of wheels don't exactly come into the category of 'light wheels'. A trip to WW site would conform this.
I bought the Comos a few years ago and quickly sold them after a couple of rides. Dear god, they are heavy! Very solid, nice rolling and bulletproof not forgetting cheap but I couldn't get past how heavy they felt. The weight you have specified confirm this.0
