I've just noticed a few spots of rust on my front fork - Its a RockSHox tora 302 SL.

I'm not sure how bi a problem this is, and also is there something I can do to help deal with it? Theyre pretty small at the moment...

  • where are they, stanchion or lowers? if on the stanchion then spray them with GT85 and bounce the forks or ride a bit and they should go away. if on the lowers then again spray with GT85 (but be careful not to get any on the brakes) and scrub the spots with a rag. that should shift them

I wasn't aware that Tora's had steel lowers, thought only Zoom and some Suntour had that!

  • They're on the stanchions, very small spots. Is the GT85 the way to go then? Will WD40 do anything?

    neither.

use some fork oil. not much else you can do.

the propellant in the GT85/WD40 can rot the seals.

  • Thanks for the suggestions guys, i've just used a bit of tin foil to delicately get tid of some of it - what about clearing it off then using something like Loctite rust killer?
